Kazakhstan Pentagram on Google Earth actually an old Russian Park

Google Pentagram

The interwebs are a buzz with a Google Earth find of a large pentagram located in rural Kazakhstan. This has led many to wonder who created the Satanic symbol and what it really means.

But people are getting all worked up over nothing, the site is just an old Soviet park that was created in the shape of the Soviet star.

Fire up Google Earth and fly to  52°28’46.04″N  62°11’9.20″E and you will see what is causing all the stir.

It does, in fact look like a huge Satanic Pentagram carved into the landscape. But this is no Satanic ritual site, or alien landing zone, just an old Soviet Union era park.

A commenter on Doubtful news pointed readers to this Russian website (Google Translate Version).

According to the website the star is a remnant of an extensive Soviet Era park was went under in the 1970s. So no Satanic rituals, and no aliens. Just the remnants of the old Soviet Bear.

Google Earth Chinese Image Mystery Solved?

Looks like the mystery may be solved, the strange lines and grids found in Google Earth images of China are for aligning and calibrating spy satellites according to Foxnews.

Theories and conspiracies flooded the web when the strange Google Earth images were found. But the truth seems far simpler.

“The grids of zigzagging white lines seen in two of the images — the strangest of the various desert structures — are spy satellite calibration targets. Satellite cameras focus on the grids, which measure approximately 0.65 miles wide by 1.15 miles long, and use them to orient themselves in space.” Says Jonathon Hill, a research technician and mission planner at the Mars Space Flight Facility at Arizona State University.

The US has done the same thing according to Hill, “An example I found just now is a calibration target for the Corona spy satellites, built back in the 1960s, down in Casa Grande, Ariz., [at coordinates] 32° 48′ 24.74″ N, 111° 43′ 21.30″ W,” Hill told Life’s Little Mysteries.” The target in this case is a concrete white cross shown below:

And for the material that was used to make these structures?

Most likely Paint.

Hill goes on to explain the remaining structures and what he thinks they are. All sound very logical.

It is hard to decipher images when viewed as 2-D from space. I have looked at several locations where I have grown up in Google Earth and everything looks different, and I could not even find some large sized  landmarks, they just did not show up.

Interesting Google Earth Chinese Mystery Structures and Others

Several odd Google Earth images in China are really getting a lot of attention this week. In an area located on the borders of Gansu province and Xinjiang, several mysterious sites have been detected. From mile long grid patterns to maze looking structures, to strange buildings – these are really a must see.

Though lots of rumors and conspiracy theories are already flooding the web, a close look at the images should dispel the fairy tales. This area looks to be nothing more than a test area for the Chinese military.

The maze looking white line structures are the oddest, but some are saying that these could replicate city street layouts. A close look at most of the structures,  the buildings especially, reveal a lot of bomb damage.

Most likely they are testing the effectiveness of different missiles and bombs. The small structures laid out in rows show this very clearly and this would also explain the planes in the concentric circle layout. In the same area are what appear to be two large runways. One looks like it has not been used in a while, the other appears to have heavy bomb damage at one end.

The massive grid layouts are very interesting. There appear to be two of them, covering miles, but again no real mystery here as these could be used to test the accuracy of long range missiles.

This is not the first time China made news with a Google Earth find. A couple years ago a mockup of a US F-117A Nighthawk stealth fighter was located outside a Chinese missile R&D facility:

China’s military is very active in building and researching weapons (Chinese hackers have been busy!). Supposedly odd line structures can also be found around Area 51, where the US builds test fighters and bombers.
