Google, like Anonymous, Joins Fight against Israel

Google Palestine

Those who don’t know history are destined to repeat it.” – Edmund Burke (1729-1797)

Since its inception again as a nation, Israel has been in a battle to have the right to do just one thing, exist. In this battle for legitimacy as a nation it has faced invasions from Muslim countries and constant rocket attacks by militant Islamic groups. Now it would seem that search engine giant Google has entered the fight against Israel.

Since Israel’s re-creation in 1948, they have been in a constant battle to simply survive. Not only have they faced unending physical threats, but waves of online attacks too. Militant groups have joined in with Hacktivists groups like Anonymous to put constant pressure on Israel’s online presence. Last month Israeli systems were hammered in a co-ordinated denial of service attack called #OpIsrael.

Many of these groups believe that they are helping the Islamic Palestinian people gain their freedom to form a state called “Palestine”. They believe (falsely) that creating a “Two State Solution” will bring peace to the Middle East and protect the Palestinians from “Israeli aggression”.

FOLLOW THE LEADER

Just this week, Google jumped into the political arena on the Palestinian’s side by changing their “Google Palestinian Territories” site to simply say Google Palestine. A small name change, that has very large political repercussions.

In this case, we are following the lead of the UN, Icann [Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers], ISO [International Organisation for Standardisation] and other international organisations,” Google Spokesman Nathan Tyler, told the BBC.

Well beyond just “following the lead of the UN“, the move was a direct blow to Israel and it’s right to exist peacefully. Google also decided to side against their home nation as the UN recognizes Palestine as a state, but the US does not.

As you will see recognizing Palestine as a state, and the whole creation of a “Two State Solution” will not bring peace to the Middle East.

As it has been done before, and it failed…

THE BRITISH MANDATE

After WWI it was agreed that the British Mandate Palestine, land that Britain took control of from turkey, would be divided into two countries. At first Israel was to be given the entire land (reminiscent of the land promised to Israel by God in Genesis 15:18-21) but after strong Islamic objection, it was agreed between Islamic authorities and Britain that a two state solution would bring peace to the Middle East.

Jewish Palestinians would be given a small section of land (which would be eventually be called Israel) and the Muslim Palestinians were given a very large section of land called Trans-Jordan.

ISLAMIC NAZI SS TROOPS

Not all of the Muslim leaders fell in line with this decision. Radical Islamic leaders believed that Israel should not exist and began resisting the change. By the time WWII came around some of these leaders joined in with Germany to place Muslim troops in Nazi SS divisions.

After WWII members of these Islamic Nazi troops banned together to form many of the radical Islamic groups which still fight the legitimacy of Israel to exist.

PALESTINE AS A LAUNCHING POINT FOR TERROR

Radical Islamic fighters swarm into these “disputed Palestinian territories” to continue the fight against Israel by constantly firing mortars and rockets into their cities. According to Wikipedia, “as of November 2012, over 2,256 rockets had been launched at Israel from Gaza since January 2012.”

CONCLUSION

Google has decided to use it’s clout to support the creation of a Palestinian state.

As you can see, Google’s choice to side politically with the UN, along with Anonymous and radical Islamic groups, is a huge blow to both peace in the Middle East and Israel’s daily fight to simply survive.

Update 5/5

Okay, now I understand a little bit better, Google has business interests in Palestine:

“Palestinians have such a unique position,” says Gisel Kordestani, Google’s director of new business development. “They’re well educated. They have strong English-language skills. With 88 million people in the [Middle East and North African] region getting online, they have the opportunity to build something for the Arab world.”

Google stands to benefit from whatever is built. Currently less than 1% of the searchable content online is in Arabic. If it grows, Google can sell ads against the new content.

Israel using Air Strikes, Tweets and YouTube in the Battle Against Hamas

In response to yet another barrage of Hamas rocket attacks, Israel strikes back with targeted air strikes, but also with social media including tweets and YouTube videos!

“Since the start of the operation yesterday, IDF forces have struck 105 terror targets in the #Gaza Strip”, the Official IDF spokesperson (@IDFSpokesperson) twitter feed stated just a few minutes ago.

The IDF tweeted that over 50 rockets were fired from Gaza at Israel since yesterday, making the total rockets launched against Israel in 2012 more than 800!

Attacks against Israel by the terrorist group Hamas is not a new thing. And according to the IDF over one million Israelis are under threat of the attacks. The following map shows the different rockets that terrorists are using against Israel and the population that is within reach of the weapons:

But Israel is not defenseless against these threats. As IDF airstrikes and Naval assaults take out launch sites, their “Iron Dome” missile shield takes out incoming rockets that are aimed at populated areas. The Iron Dome is a system somewhat like the American Patriot missile batteries, but it can track and intercept smaller incoming projectiles like rockets and artillery rounds.

According to the IDF, “People in southern Israel have 15 seconds to run to shelter every time a rocket alarm sounds“, and “Tonight, more than 1 million Israelis are going to sleep in bomb shelters” but it sounds like Israel’s missile shield is performing very well as of tonight, “the Iron Dome system successfully intercepted 28 rockets fired from Gaza at major Israeli population centers.”

Israel is not just using Twitter to keep the world up to date on the defensive operation, they are also using YouTube. The following warning to Hamas was sent out about 10 hours ago:

And then an hour later a Twitter notification that Israel had eliminated Ahmed Jabari, the alleged head of Hamas Military Wing with this poster attached:

And finally a Tweet claiming a pinpoint strike on Ahmed Jabari, including a link to a YouTube video:

Of course Hamas is threatening retaliation. And I am sure Islamic cyber groups and hacktivists will get involved because of Israel’s choice to use social media. We shall see what comes of this in the days to come.

As for now, my heart goes out to all those who are suffering tonight. And as the Bible says, please pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.

Putin President Again – Signs of a New Cold War?

Vladimir Putin is Russia’s president again (did he ever leave?), let Cold War 2.0 begin.

Love him or hate him, looks like Putin is the Russian president again. Though there are heavy challenges to the election’s legitimacy, and proof of voter fraud, check out these multiple votes:

The election will stand. Why? Even though his election count was surely padded, many Russians want him. I remember seeing a poll last year of Russian citizens. An overwhelming majority wanted the countries that broke away from Russian rule after being “liberated” during WWII to be returned to Russian control.

Putin wants a strong Russia and maybe even a return to the Cold War times with the US. He has pledged to increase military spending significantly. According to The Moscow News:

“His pledge included funds to build over 400 modern intercontinental ballistic missiles, 28 submarines, over 50 military surface vehicles, 600 modern warplanes, and anti-aircraft and anti-missile systems.”

Putin’s reasoning?

“This is not a militarization of the Russian budget,” Putin said in an article titled: “Being strong is a guarantee of Russia’s national security,” published in the government’s official newspaper, Rossiiskaya Gazeta. “It’s obvious we cannot strengthen our international position, develop the economy and democratic institutions if we are not able to defend Russia.”

One would have to ask “Defend Russia from who?”

President Obama folded when confronted by Russia about the US missile defense shield in Europe. According to a 2009 CNN article, Poland and the Czech Republic were depending on the missile shield as protection against Russian aggression:

Poland and the Czech Republic had based much of their future security policy on getting the missile defenses from the United States. The countries share deep concerns of a future military threat from the east — namely, Russia — and may now look for other defense assurances from their NATO allies.

With Putin fully in-charge again, you can expect anti-West rhetoric to increase. Heck, even Russia’s “Pravda” news website is getting in on the action. Check out these screenshots of Pravda.ru from yesterday. Here is what Russian readers saw (translated):

A nice up-beat news spread about Putin’s election bid. Now, what did the English version of the Webpage look like?

Let’s see, we have:

  • Exposed:The handbook of American State Terrorism
  • North Korea Throws dust in the USA’s Eyes
  • Iranian Mosquitoes to bite US Navy Hard
  • Putin and the Tall Wall Against Western Mischief
  • Russia Confirms Foreign Invasion of Syria
  • Latin America prepared for US Financial Burst

A slight difference in article selections.

Well, looks like the Cold War and anti-West sentiment may heat up again, especially with Putin at the helm.
