Questions on Validity of a Site? Use Site Advisor by Mcafee

I received an e-mail today that I was not sure if it was legit or not. You really have to watch links in e-mail programs. If in doubt, do not click links in an unknown e-mail message. I found Mcafee’s SiteAdvisor, it allows you to put in a name of a website and it tells you if it has known issues with the site.

I put the unknown websites name in and it came back that Mcafee had scanned the site and it came back clean. Nice free feature to try out. It also has a version that you can download and install into your internet explorer, but for what I needed, just using the free search worked out great. Try it out here and put the website name into the box that says “view report”.

Whenever you get an e-mail, and want to click on one of the links, it is always best to manually go to the website and put the link in yourself. Spammers know how to create realistic looking websites with links that send you to compromised sites.
